Another fracture...

Today was a day we ought to have stayed in bed for. It began at half past six with a huge downpour of rain, and as I went out in the dark to cover the rabbit's cage, I hoped that the sport would be cancelled - but no. Finn's team played in howling rain and wind and eventually hail out in Porirua East, and they just about froze - and they lost as well! Meanwhile Asher's game was played in similar weather in the Hutt Valley, and he was taken out in a tackle early in the second half, went right over the boy who tackled him... and broke his collarbone. I spent the two hours in the AfterHours getting him seen by a doctor, xrayed and seen again. He's in a lot of pain. I feel so sad for him, his soccer season was just getting going and the team was doing so well. Now he's off for about six weeks. It also ruins our holiday road trip plans. He can't go on the luge now. Also, we have to be back Monday week for Fracture Clinic - I cried at the counter when the receptionist said that. I didn't want to have to come back early from up north. I just wanted a rest. She quietly handed me the tissue box as I signed the credit card slip.

Tonight things got better as we had two birthday parties to go to, luckily quite near one another, with masses of beer, wine and catered food flowing, and close friends at both parties! One 40th, one 50th, one with a band and a dance floor, and one with the best speeches I've heard in ages! We party hopped. But now it's nearly 2.30 in the morning and I have Mass tomorrow! OMG! It's also raining and COLD! I'm going to bed for a few hours' sleep! Good night, dear buddies.

*hugs* I'm really sorry to hear that. Hope you manage to get some rest another way. Thinking of you.

Hey, Hannah, how are you doing? Thanks for your care. And yeah, when I get north we can rest a bit. Just me and my laptop and children to feed. Easy!

So sorry about Asher - it sounds as if Murphy's law kicked in as soon as you had your trip planned. Give him my love. He'll be so disappointed about the luge.

Yay for the parties! You need more of that in your life!

I'm selfishly hoping your altered plans might give you time to join us on Yahoo. alexhogan has been asking whether you had got the invitation.

Thanks. I hope he does heal soon. He's very immobile at the moment. Bit of a damper on the holiday season, huh.

So sorry to hear about Asher, love and prayers to him. Will you still head north at all these holidays?

Thanks, dear Viv. Yeah, we're still going north but no longer on a road trip, just straight line to Tauranga. But we'll do it in stages. To Levin to see my aunt for morning tea, then a night in Taupo with a hot spa right in the living room so he can sit in there *g* then a hop to Rotorua where we may or may not sleep, then on to Tauranga. I think with pillows and panadeine he'll be okay. He's very stoic.

Poor Asher! Crazy that the sports weren't cancelled even with the weather. Hopefully the holidays will still be okay for him, and for you. Try and fit some rest in even with the shortened trip!

Yeah, if only the sports had been cancelled that day...

Thanks. I love it when you swing by *g*

What a terrible thing to happen to poor Asher! I know what you're going through though - have spent more time in Emergency Departments with my youngest than I care to count. He's just had an arthroscopy to repair the damage he did to his knee a month or so ago! My thoughts are with you both and I hope Asher recovers quickly.

And yes, please do join us on the Yahoo group we'd love to have you there.

An arthroscopy. I hope they found what they were looking for. Christy had one on her wrist and it showed what was sore but not why! Grrr.

Thanks for your kind thoughts for Asher.

Okay, while I'm still on holiday I think I'm about ready to take the plunge *g*

As usual, I'm way behind on replying to things and commenting!!!

Yes, my son's arthorscopy was quite successful and they removed the torn cartilage from his knee, they also confirmed he'd torn his cruciate ligament. So, it's physio for a while and see what happens!

Hope Asher is doing okay with his collarbone. I'm also hoping you do plunge into our Group - we are very gentle and don't bite at all*g*

Cruciate ligament? Ouch. That can be really debilitating.
I hope his healing goes really well. Asher is coping okay, and much more cheerful this week. I think the bone is setting okay.

I want to, while I have time, but I can't join at the moment, the first invitation expired and Mothy organised another one last night but it hasn't come yet...

Really sorry to hear about this - children and casualty departments is the worst. Hope he heals well and quickly.

Hey there, thanks! Apparently the medical world says the bone just heals with no attention, nothing! He just has to keep it still for a couple of weeks. Weird. I mean, I know bones heal well, but I'm used to plaster casts and things like that. This one - they just say, it might not look quite the same as the one on the other side!
