Thank you so much! That moth is so exquisite it looks positively unreal!
We went into Adelaide and I bought some opal earrings - my birthstone. Then we went to a lovely restaurant in the hills, overlooking the city, and watched all the city lights come on as we ate dinner. A large moth joined us on the outside of the window by our table!

I loooooooooove opals. You have been in the right place for that. I'm glad you had such a good day. With a moth VBG!

I have an opal ring that my grandfather brought back from India (he was in the Merchant Navy) for my grandmother. Of course, when she died it came to me because of being my birthstone. I lost one of the stones and had it replaced thought the replacement doesn't have quite the fire of the originals. It was probably imported to India from Australia because India is not an opal producing country.

Anyway, once I knew I was coming to Oz I was determined to give myself some matching earrings. They're just tiny oval studs set in goldplated silver (my ring is gold) and they match the original stones perfectly.

I wanted to go to Coober Pedy, the opal mining capital but was warned off by various friends.

I love wearing jewellery with family/friend memories attached!
