It has rained and rained and rained and rained these past two weeks, not a dry day or night in all that time, I swear. Rain rain rain. And I love the rain but it got very cold too for a while. And now I have a cold but it will pass. I've been trying to teach with a brilliant croak rather than a normal voice and today I had to yell at a girl who slipped out of class and I told her off in the corridor and the IT teacher next door came in after the lesson to say 'OMG how are you?' and was really worried because her class thought I sounded so upset and I laughed because I wasn't upset at all, just croaky!

My bestest oldest friend lost her dad last night. He was once head of the Prime Minister's department and sometimes we would score a ride home in a Crown car. Very luxurious. It's sad to see him pass away. He hasn't been well for ages but it's still hard to see the passing of a very brilliant man. RIP Bernie Galvin. You did well when your wife walked out leaving those four children to raise. That was tough. But our two families made it though those tough times. My friend and I both spent all of our teenage years in one-parent homes and you know what? We never wagged school or got detentions, we never drank or took drugs or did anything but work hard at our schoolwork. Nerds, you could say... but good kids *g*.

I am having a tough week on several fronts but it will pass. A long weekend this weekend as we celebrate the annual Queen's Birthday holiday with Monday off. I am so pleased. I am going to WRITE AND WRITE and read and WRITE.
I don't know where many of you have gone but I do hope you're lurking out there somewhere. I miss some of your posts and chats.
And on that note, thinking of you all with the kindest of thoughts, I shall get to bed before the midnight hour strikes. Aaaaaaaaaaaah...

It seems totally unfair that NZ and Oz have a day off for the Queen's birthday and UK doesn't!!! There have been petitions, to no avail. Of course, I'm retired now so it hardly matters, but still!! Enjoy your weekend! And I hope your cold and voice are better!

How odd that you don't have a Queen's Birthday. I think I had a conversation with Pam about that years ago... Pam... huh, wonder what happened to her.

And it was a good long weekend but also a very cold one! And I have my voice back but I can't sing very well yet! It's hailing here right now.
