Three Nicks...

I am making steamed pork buns for dinner tonight. It's a convoluted process doing the yeast dough and waiting for it to rise, then adding some things to make it taste sweet and sour, then mixing it with flour and baking powder and making a really smooth dough then waiting for that to rise. I marinated the pork in char siu sauce last night, and I've just cooked that, so I'm just about ready. Asher has called out that there is a Rob Lowe movie on. I'm not going to look. They've changed to Disney channel now. Nope, must be Nick, because I can hear SpongeBob!!! I love him! Best cartoon ever.

I'm redoing a lot of Breathing Space. I thought it all out yesterday at work, during that quiet lunch hour, and I'm working on Nick (heh, another Nick, not the tv station), and it's fun. I have written this in the first person this time, and that's a challenge, and I even considered going back and putting it into third person, but I think I really want to do one novel in the first. It sure limits the things that you can include, but at the same time, you get a chance to really get inside one person's head. You have to monitor everyone else according to his own reactions and responses. I recall talking to Nick (a third Nick, this time the writer) Earls about that one time, when he did that one month blog for insideadog. *sigh* that was such fun. I miss him. I wonder where he went. Hibernating and writing, hopefully. I'd hate for him to have gone back to his day job ;) and I guess I'm just another crazy fan.

Steve might be going to Lyon. Soon. June. I don't think I'll go. I've gone off European travel just now. I think it hurt too much, afterwards. I'll just stay in this corner of the world for a bit longer. It's nice here *g*

And there's a queue for this pc so I'd better go back to making the buns. Or there will be no dinner. And we can't have that, huh.

Well you could work full time for 6 weeks (surely they'll have found a replacement by then!) and then you could afford to go to Lyon!! and you'd deserve a break by then too!!!

True! And who knows, they might find a replacement over the holidays and I won't have any set work at all!!

You could book this in your diary... it would give you something to look forward to... and it would also potentially stop a few weeks of full time work turning into 6 months of full time work!! (but I do realise travel across the world is costly both in terms of time and money, so there's no real pressure here! - it would just be lovely to see you!!)

Oh, I so wish it didn't cost thousands of dollars to go to your end of the world!!! *sigh* wouldn't it be lovely. I'd love all of us to travel along with Steve but it really would cost so much! But yeah, it'd be great.

And, of course, if you were popping across the Channel to see Viv, you could also pop up to Edinburgh :) Or I could use your visit as a good excuse to pop over to France - I haven't been there in years, and I've never been to Lyon at all.
