Some pics of our journey - I'll do a cut, they're biggish...

Sheep passing by on the way north from Wanganui to Taumaranui

and the bush in central North Island. I find driving round there, it's like the road is laid like a ribbon through the otherwise untouched bush - and it was such deep bush here, too

Heh. The sheep are cool. And that second photo is amazing. The road is so very dwarfed.

Thanks for sharing!

Hey there!
I love the way the bush is bigger than the road. I can see a cabbage tree peeking out on the right, like in my icon! It's just so vibrant and green and devoid of humanity!!!

Great photos, (though it took me ages to see them because of my internet issues!)

The sheep are cool! It all makes me feel quite at home!

Oh are you still having internet issues? Have you checked for spyware? They can really slow things down.

Great! Come back home any time *g*

-But the height of those trees... that's incredible
Yeah, it's hard to take a photo that illustrates the magnitude of the bush around that part of the country, it's so... panoramic!

-You live in a very beautiful country. *grins*
We do. You really must come some time!

There's sheep! Crossing the road in front of you! A whole herd!

And it's so beautiful, almost untouched.

You get that quite a bit. Sometimes the cows have an underpass to get to milking LOL!

That's what I love about it, it's so natural and native, as if maybe hardly anyone has been there.

Huh! We get deer a lot, and sometimes turkeys or chickens, but that's usually when they wander out into the road. We occasionally have cows too, but only when they get loose!

We don't have many turkeys here. We did see plenty of cows on my friend's farm

Elly said that just above. You don't have sheep in England?

I am glad you are enjoying the bush. A big difference from where you are off to!!! OMG!

We have sheep in England(!) but except in the far north (on the Scottish borders) they tend to be fenced in and a whole group wandering around like that would be frowned upon!!! Scotland and Wales are 'wilder' with more unfenced land where the motorist drives over a cattle grid and then has to watch out for roaming animals.

Yes, there won't be too much bush, or too many sheep, in Barcelona ...Of course, in inland Spain you have to watch out for the bulls. *bg*

OMG yeah, your drought looks disastrous. We always have rain to spare.

-Umm! What cricket*bg*
Hah. I'm sure they must have poisoned Shane Bond... it's not safe to be a cricketer any more, huh. And yeah, let's not talk about it.

Our water restrictions are getting sooo bad. Now they are saying we won't be able to have fresh fruit or veg or, if we do, we will be paying a fortune for them. When the cyclone hit Queensland the price of bananas hit around $12.00 a kilo and has only just gone down to an affordable price (and we have started eating bananas again!). It is getting very bad and there doesn't seem to be any relief on the horizon in the form of good rains!

Yes, cricket seems to be getting to be one of the more dangerous sports! Personally, I do find it boring most times anyway.

And see, thanks to you I can do italics now*g*

Yeah, I saw that on the news the other night. Such a difficult time.
It seems so crazy, when they said the drought'd be a major issue in the next election. It sounded like people think politicians can control the weather!

I have to admit I do love cricket, but I'm glad we were too busy to watch this morning!

You are a fast learner! I used to have a friend who taught me all I need to know to get by here, so it's good to be able to pass it on.

Well, they can control what use the Murray River is put to and water conservations methods and Australia's response to Kyoto and ....

I'm grateful to both you and your friend. Sometimes this whole LJ thing is a little confusing*g*
