I was playing a 'game' with blue_leaf and I shall dutifully post his reply here.
So, this is his reply to me:
1. Tell you why I friended you.
Hahaha this one is easy, because you and I are the only two LJ-ers to have Philip Gulley listed in our intrests.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, etc. John Grisham's The Testament, and the journey of Nate O'Riley.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
You are a very lighthearted person.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
just commenting back and forth
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
how did you discover Phil Gulley and have you ever attended a Quaker meeting?

6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.

7. In return, you must post this in your LJ.

And this is what I said to #5
Now, how did I discover Phil Gulley? darn, let me think... oh yeah, I remember, I was planted in the library trying to just read novels from authors whose names began with anything from E to G (being a rampaging Nick Earls and John Grisham fan, and I'd read all of theirs). Phil's books have the best covers and I was looking at one and thought, OMG this is just what I feel like reading! It was a Harmony novel. I was hooked.

And no, never been to a Quaker meeting. I'm not sure there are many here in our country at all. I never met a Quaker in person - that I'm aware of.

1. Tell you why I friended you.
Because of the Phil Gulley thing, too! Yay, Phil!
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, etc.
I associate you with finding moments that are special and reflecting on them.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
I like your positive attitude even when things are really tough.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
The fun of finding a friend (you) with something in common.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
How do you like the Quaker silences during a service (we don't have that really) and is it a thinking or praying time or both or more?
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
It's the one you use the most, I like seeing your cheerful face!
7. In return, you must post this in your LJ.

It is what Quakers call worship based on silence. For us, silence is not merely a time to relax or gather one's thoughts. Quaker worship is an alert openness to the still leading of the Inner Light, kind of being with God. Also one may be moved to speak, this is called vocal ministry. I sit daily in contemplative prayer and worship in my home.

Phil is just great. He has what seems like a simple style, like you think, why didn't I think of that but his work is deceptively clever! He has a great eye for finding the funny in the normal!!! At the same time, he's gentle, and down to earth, and honest. I really like the Harmony novels, but his Porch Talk series is great, too.
