Awful news about Bhutto, really tragic. We've felt bad about that all day.
We're off tomorrow, and we've had no less than three offers of rides to the airport! We're so lucky! We are flying to Brisbane where we'll pick up a rental car, which I shall be driving *g* then we head down to the Gold Coast and sun! Mind you, there is a huge storm brewing there just now and the beach is closed!!! Could be a wet start. Unlike here, though, even in a storm it will be warm. Our friends left today (three families worth), and another family of friends tomorrow as well, and we will all meet up on Monday!
Australia: I can't wait to see it all again. The bush, the red soil, the rocks, the land, the rivers, it's so different to here, and truly beautiful. And we'll be in Nick Earls land! I Googled Zigzag Street and it looks pretty straight to me, but it's near where we're staying in Brisbane so I might just have to make a little pilgrimage there (it's the title of one of Nick's books). Spring Hill to Red Hill, can't be too far.
And I've decided to rewrite Breathing Space while I'm over there. I have ideas. I've never been quite happy with where it was going, so I'm taking nothing with me but a blank exercise book and I'll see where my trusty pen takes me. So you may not hear from me until mid January unless I can get near an internet outlet without the nerd call going up. Take care, have a great New Year celebration, make those resolutions (e.g. Viv could resolve to paint at least once a month - my friend next door paints every Tuesday afternoon come hell or high water) and see if you can stick to them until I get back (there is an airline strike threatened from the 9th January so... we may not make it back as expected!). I shall avoid large spiders, scorpions, crocs and all manner of snakes and attempt to return to you soon!
