A room with a view...

Hellooooo, my friends. And so the day draws to a close and it was a day of small but, to me in my little world, HUGE happenings.

First my principal phoned at lunchtime to say my new classroom had arrived. My friend has been calling it the Portaloo, so I threw Asher in the car with the promise of pies afterwards and we shot over to take a look. It's huge, a big prefab building that is being gutted right now to produce my classroom, an office-resource room, a sacred space and a room at the back for the uniform shop! OMG! It feels like it's all for me, as DRS, and I'm special. I never feel worthy enough but this is surely a good boost to my usually piss-poor confidence. My room is alone on the court next to the admin block, with big pohutukawa trees right outside the windows. I'll take some photos on Friday so you can see. There will be a deck and landscaping to block the northerly, and I'll move into this amazing room by the end of February! Whee!!

And I also e-mailed Nick Earls about his radio activities and his cute and husky voice and he answered tonight, and he's so good *sigh* I really am very lucky. I mean, in a lot of ways he's an Important Person, a Queensland icon even *g* to some, and me, I'm amazing and even an Important Person but only in my own little world *g* Maybe I'll re-read Zigzag Street this week, while I'm on a fannish roll. I also cleared my desk today and polished the wood a little, and lined up all my Nick books on the window sill in front of the desk.

And now Andy Roddick is playing in the tennis and I really ought to go to bed but I like Andy...

And I'd like to be writing but I just can't do everything at once! Dammit! I really must sleep a little, too.

Looking forward to pics of room. Were they going to do it anyway or did your arrival inspire them? I know they consulted you on design/needs. And you are a very important person to your own quite wide circle!

They were always hoping to have another room, but it was going to be for drama, when I first arrived. Somehow, during the course of last year, our Principal decided the idea of me and a sacred space sounded like a good idea! She knows at least that I'd use it! We don't have any kind of chapel or prayer room or anything at the moment. So maybe my kind of approach inspired her to go for the religious angle for the room.

Hee! That sounds nice. I know here that I have great friends! And many of them may be quiet so I think they're not interested but it always surprises me that they're still out there keeping tabs on me and the 'interesting days' I have.

I love your icon, another cutie.

I'll try and go there today. Take some photos while it's still in the early stages!
