Today I went to school. It was good. And I even did a Kind Thing. You know, like Alfie's big sister when she swaps her new bear for Dogger at the school fair. See, I move into my new classroom, hopefully, on or about 20th Feb, which probably means March! Now the new ESOL teacher would then move across from the Admin block and into my classroom. That seems disruptive for her and her foreign language students, to have to move after a month at school. So I offered to move now, use her room for a month and then go down to mine in my own time, as no one will be going into the 'esol' room, it'll be turned into deans' offices and a resource room for the English Dept. It's a stifling room, with no windows to look out, but it won't be for long. There are windows up high, that'll have to do me! So I'll be upstairs in the Admin block, between the senior and junior deans! The junior dean was my neighbour in the other block, so he shifted up there today as well, swapping rooms with the history teacher! At least it'll be quick to go get a coffee *g* straight down the stairs.

And it felt really good to get some work done today, I felt more confident seeing everyone else struggling with the same 'start of the year' problems. And I think I can take things slowly. I wanted to rush ahead and have everything in the world done, but now I think it can happen at a more leisurely pace, and be done well!

So. I'll be quiet now, give you all time to post your news... yeah, right.

It will turn out to have been kind to yourself too, because you won't have to move in a rush. I had a classroom with those high windows once, in a Victorian school building that was designed so that the kids couldn't look out - too distracting! - and I hated it but when we asked the kids they said it was like being in a bright box, with all the posters and their art, etc. and they liked it!

Well, that sounds good. I bet you had an amazing classroom!
I figured if I get the girls to make some Buddhist prayer flags early on, and we repeat last year's very successful stained glass window shapes on the walls, well, it might feel like we're looking out!

And yes, it does mean I can just move downstairs without any pressure. And when we move my office (which is thankfully on the ground floor of the other building), all the girls will be in school to help *g* (unlike today!)

The move sounds both kind and sensible, so that is good for everybody.
I always think returning to school at the start of a new year is exciting as all those opportunities stretch ahead of you, prayer flags and stained glass windows sound colourful and fun!

I cleaned the room up today and covered a wall with Unicef posters about children in need, so that's got Social Justice off to a good start.

I really like the idea of prayer flags. We saw a house in Brisbane, just off Zigzag St that had them
