Surviving Palmerston North...

Hi team, sorry to be awol, I had to go to Palmerston North (that's a two hour drive from here up country) for a two day DRS/Principals conference. My colleague from down the road drove, so that was easy, he picked me up at the door at seven on Monday morning, and dropped me back late this afternoon. It was reasonably interesting; we had a German priest lecturing us for the whole first day, when the Principals were present as well. He talked for an hour and a half, then we had lunch, then he talked for another hour and a half, then we had afternoon tea, then he talked for another hour and a half and then we broke for the day. No questions, no dialogue, no discussion on the content of his topic. That was a shame but he WAS good. And I felt really, really ill all day and sat out the third session but I listened from the room next door where I could sit more comfortably. I don't know what was wrong, it started on Sunday, and I still feel pretty awful but *shrug* you just have to get on with things, huh. We had a lovely dinner out last night, I had a Thai Chicken Curry, but I couldn't eat much of mine, so my colleague, who was sitting beside me, happily finished off mine LOL! Hey, he said in his defence, I'm Samoan!

And so I'm back already, and will have to catch up with my classes tomorrow after two days away *shudder* the only blessing is that they are usually happy to see me! Depends on who was the relief teacher(s).

I'll have to catch up with your LJs as well, if I get a chance. I felt too awful to go online from the motel last night. I turned on my laptop but I just couldn't do anything at all except stare at it. So much for getting some peace and quiet away from the family! Maybe I just had a kind of bug or something.

And so another school week begins for me late in the week, with a LOT of pressure, we have a combined Mass with the boys' college down the road, 1000 teenagers in the hall together. It's a formal Mass and it HAS to go well, and it's on my head, and the head of my colleague (the one who drove me north). So, that's what we'll be doing... three of my girls are getting confirmed since the Archbishop is saying Mass, and one of them texted me yesterday and asked me to be her sponsor! I said I'd be honoured. It's like being a godparent! That will be an interesting diversion in the middle of Mass, huh. Okay, so that was me...

Hope you're feeling better. Hope it was 'just a bug' and not stress getting to you. Hope your Mass goes well.

Thank you. I still feel foul but it's not so painful now. I still hope it's a bug... Stress? So don't want to think about that but I have to admit I'm a little close to the edge this term. Have to take a breather some time soon! As soon as the sporting season is over, maybe! That'll be one less thing to think about.

-Hope your Mass goes well.
And thanks again, it's kind of scary. I had to get a girl I don't teach to agree to do the Maori karanga (a call) at the Eucharist. It means her calling out loud in Maori in front of everyone... but she said YES! I'm so pleased! So I will have little triumphs among the chaos!

I hope it was just a bug and that you're feeling better! Nothing to catch up to on my lj, I haven't updated lately.

Heh, thanks, I'm still hoping it's a bug, too. My imagination thinks of many other possibilities but I'm ignoring that for now LOL!

Well, that's okay, at least I won't be behind then! Moth has written about a zillion posts about books and I am so far back I might as well quit until Christmas!
And what is happening in your life then? Must be SOMETHING going on? Huh? *g*

Nothing too much, just work, new clothes and going out. Just trying to survive the best I can!

I wouldn't mind some new clothes! Or some going out! I'm glad you're just doing things. Life is, after all, for living *g*
