Fun to be had...

I've just been to our parish school's fundraiser, an Irish Huili. It was just at the local Village Hall and we had a heap of fun. After the skits, we had the 2-man band Finn McCool. After such a series of crappy days, it was so neat just to dance wildly with lots of good friends, sing Irish songs loudly, laugh a lot at the little plays we did (luckily I was in the first one so I could enjoy all the rest) and just have a really great time. Now it's nearly one in the morning and I guess I'd better go to bed.

I'll find out how Christy got on at her 'semi-formal' tomorrow as she is staying the night with friends. Mass in the morning. And then I guess it's schoolwork and all that. At least the house is halfway tidy. And we have a heap of food that I didn't get round to using this evening.

So things are feeling okay in the Takahe household. Even my boss popped in this afternoon to say hi as she was passing (I had some of my senior girls here helping Christy and her friends get ready - one girl is half PNG and we had to decide what to do with her incredible gorgeous springy afro hair), and I am feeling better about my life in a school than I did on Friday *snort*! I had to miss my writing course for the first time last Saturday because of Catholic Character Review and soccer Prizegiving, and that really hurt. But I just can't fit writing in this term. I'm weighed down under a 'why bother' kind of frame of mind. Maybe the holiday break will fix that, huh!! I'm re-reading The Bone People. It sucks me in and holds me. I know a lot of people hated it, but it has something I can't let go of. I wish I could write something that did that to others. Something powerful. But it's not really my style. Not just now. I write without that kind of pretension. And it is a kind of pretension, her style. Well, I think it is. So maybe I do like what I write. I dunno, too much sipping of wine and dancing with great men - and women - to think too deeply, or even at all OMG! G'night.

Yes, reading on numerous levels is interesting - and quite tiring! It has made me much more critical so books that still appeal to me are pretty good!!

'Safe' is one of them. Interesting setting, well developed characters, an intriguing mystery and a 'natural' writing style. Be careful not to make too many changes and spoil the style!

You're so kind about Safe. I have adjusted it a lot but not really changed it. Thanks, Mothy, you give me a lot of confidence to keep going. I have to admit I still love Keeley *g* - and David!
