And this is Christmas...

Just in from Midnight Mass, rushing for bed but I had to stop and share the Christmas spirit since I have failed madly when it comes to the Post... but I really wish the very best for each one of you who has shared yourself with me in some way here - many hugs from way Down Under and I hope Christmas may be peaceful and blessed

What a gorgeous picture! Thank you!
Just got up - everybody else is still asleep - including Jamie who is tired after visiting people yesterday evening and being treated like a living doll by six little girls.
About to consider putting the goose in the oven.
Hope you had a lovely day!

I'm glad you caught some morning peace. I hope by now you've had a great day!

And did you cook a goose? A GOOSE? OMG!!! I never saw a goose cooked...

Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS again. Your gifts, that was SO THOUGHTFUL of you. I will email you when we get back from our barbecue xxx

I cooked a goose. I've done it before. If you think of a turkey as a big chicken then you can think of a goose as a big duck and the whole thing becomes just a matter of scale... It was delicious. I also cooked a filo pastry parcel stuffed with spiced rice and onions for the veggie pair. Then we all had the same veg and 'trimmings'. Jamie pushed some bits of dinner around his high chair 'table' but didn't really eat so much as play... It all went splendidly but I got very tired and had to go to bed early and leave everyone else to clear up.

I think you'd have to get more rest after having the flu. It'll take a while to get back to normal... normal for a Moth anyway *g*

And a goose sounds exotic and kind of odd to eat but I guess yeah it's just a big bird. I've had ostrich burgers, after all...

Little children never really appreciate special food, I've found. They just prefer the usual.

Chris thought we ought to have goose... but I didn't oblige! Is goose as greasy as duck?

There's a lot of fat - you prick the skin and drain it off and it makes good roast potatoes. But I overcooked mine (something to do with the diningroom table not being cleared of 'stuff' when the bird should have come out of the oven). It's all very 'dark' meat and it tastes delicious but there's less on it than you might hope!! It makes for a very 'traditional' atmosphere. I made Jamie Oliver's plum sauce to go with it - gorgeous - as an alternative to apple or cranberry and as well as the hot veg I did a red cabbage coleslaw.
Recommended for novelty value but maybe not on economic grounds... insufficient leftovers for the price I paid!!
