I had to meet someone today at lunchtime and she was very late. By the time we got home, the boys were here, but the cat was not. I had left her hiding under the coffee table after I had tried to get some liquid into her again. Now she's MIA. I'm trying really hard not to cry. Finn is already crying. It's so sad, I was going to take her back to the vet. Now she's not here. I've searched the house and the garden over and over...

I'll let you know if I find her but I suspect this might be the end... she probably wants to be at peace.

When cats feel very ill they often hide rather than seek company or help. I suspect you are right and she is seeking a peaceful end. That's so sad for all of you but it will be an end to her suffering. I remember that lovely picture - and my UK friend's lookalike cat. All you can do now is try to remember the happy times and that she was much loved.

I guess we just feel like we'd wanted to comfort her at the end. We hate to think she's alone.
But I understand too the natural desire to find a quiet place.

Poor Finn is terribly sad. She's been with him all his life so he doesn't know life without her. He just started to cry and cry before bedtime and he's been sitting on my knee for ages. I just put him to bed so I hope he sleeps. I have to get up at 5 in the morning to drop Christy and her friends at the bus. They're off to a Christian music festival.

Thanks for the hugs xx

Thanks, Hannah *hugs you back*
We'll just have to adjust to life without Shyler, I guess.

Gretchen and I had a very old cat that would come outside with me and have an adventure while I walked the dog. She never left the yard, ever. One day she was not there. She was very old and I think she went away to die. I know no one would have picked her up because she would bite and scratch if anyone did. I miss her terribly, but I accept that she wanted to be at peace, as you said. How old is your pet? I hope you find her because not knowing is torture. I cried for days and so did Gretchen after our cat went away to die. God Bless you, the cat and the kids , Jen.

Aw, John, you're such a big softie! And I love you for it *g* Thanks so much, I really appreciate that you understand how we're all feeling.

I am sure Shyler will have passed away because I don't see how she could have gone more than a few steps from our house. She must have buried herself deep in the bushes around the garden or maybe gone under the house next door. I kind of hope we don't find her now if she has died. I'd rather she just stayed in peace somewhere deep in God's ground.

God bless you and your kind words xx
