We got back to my mother's place today after doing the whole of the Coromandel Peninsula pretty much. It was a blast. We dug holes in Hot Water Beach at low tide and lay in steaming spa pools in the late afternoon sun, we crossed from one side of the peninsula to the other looking for a bed one night, we slept in a big tent and I found out how unfortunate it is to be the first one up when you crawl out of the tent face first and the house dog is waiting to lick you to death, we have driven twenty minutes up a huge hill on a very very winding narrow metal (gravel) road, then down the other side to find our rural (and I mean rural with no cell phone signal and I swear at some points no other people) accommodation, we swam in a deserted beach and dipped in warm rock pools, we met with friends today who took the boys out in kayaks in the sea, we have seen dozens of beautiful bays with million dollar views, we have seen tuis and heard moreporks calling and frogs croaking and let bunnies hop across in front of the car, and my car is the dustiest thing ever... I'll sort some pics, promise.
And I'll catch up with you all.
