A song thingy

OMG I got tagged. I rarely get tagged. And when I do, I don't seem to have time to consider it. But moth2fic is crafty and knows I am on holiday...

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

I don't think I'd have the nerve to tag other people! But feel free to take it from here if you have songs to share *g* or add them here and Mothy can come and read them! I won't therefore lock this entry.

And do I have seven songs I am into right now? I don't listen to a lot of music, it interferes with my writing thoughts. And I really like silence. But I'm influenced by Christy's iPod which plugs into the 3-in-1 in the car, and is picked up by the car radio... so no thinking while we drive these holidays, I have to sing along. But the most influential songs this last year for me have to be:

Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap.
We listened to that over and over, and it was just when I had such awful things happen hereabouts a while back. So it became the song that always brought tears to my eyes, and still does, which the children nobly choose not to notice. The lyrics are moving, the harmonies are haunting and clever and the climax is resounding. A wonderfully crafted song.
Where are we? What the hell is going on? The dust has only just begun to fall, crop circles in the carpet...spin me round again and rub my eyes, this can't be happening...

Join the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance
Rousing and defiant and it's the ring tone on my cellphone *g* a glorious rocking song

My Heart Will Go On by New Found Glory
A fabulous remake of the Celine Dion nightmare, that rocks your socks off and has brilliant musicianship and excellent timing to boot, and the lead singer has the cutest voice ;)

Alexander Beetle by Melanie Safka
A blast from the past which we miraculously found on Limewire, a pathetically cute and moving little ballad that I shared with Christy after about thirty years' break *g* and I still love her beetle talk and her triumphant finding of Alexander.
I even created a fictional character named after Melanie when I was in Year Ten, Richard Safka, whom I serialised in illicit thriller adventure tales which we secretly passed around the classroom.

Shout to the Lord by Darlene Zschech
An awesome song that builds and builds and challenges singer and listener alike, and I just love to play keyboards for. Sorry, but you probably won't hear it unless you go to church LOL!

Goodnight Saigon by Billy Joel
Not new but revisited this past year on DVD and still really enjoyed, the rise, the lyrics, the rhythm of the words, the sheer brilliance of the assonance. And the story behind it. And the emotion it brings - I saw the concert version with the Vietnam vets standing in a ring - contrived? Maybe, but it was a powerful image all the same.

Statement by Gentleman Reg
The soundtrack came from a friend who sent the movie Wilby Wonderful. Gentle, raw music that is soothing and mesmerising, and reminds you of the movie every time! Brilliant Canadian movie btw. A real gem and much more deserving of an Oscar than anything I've seen lately ;) ... and because I know Bond won't get one *snort*

If I think of something more musical, I'll dump Alexander Beetle *g* but I think I need coffee right now. Add your songs, that'd be cool.

Cool! I have to admit I didn't like it the first time, but it grew on me as I realised how much more fun it was than the other version LOL!

I liked Simple Plan's version of "Happy Together." That one is pretty good, it was in the remake of Freaky Friday.

I'll have to look into to that. You know, I went to the original Freaky Friday at the movies... I think it was a looooong time ago *g*

I have made a note of all of them - then when I explore places like Soundclick I won't just be wandering at random ...I like the sound of Alexander Beetle. Needless to say, I know perfectly well who let the beetle out! But I think I might like the Billy Joel best. We shall see, or hear.
