Today I drove for two hours exactly, leaving home at half past seven and arriving in Palmerston North at half past nine, for a meeting. As I drove along the water's edge between Pukerua Bay and Paekakariki, the sun was rising over the hills that climb almost vertically from the road, with a narrow cleft of railway line cut in just above the road line. The sea was rough in the morning sun, with white caps and rollers thundering onto the rocks ust metres away on my left, despite the warm sunshine. Fine mist rose ahead of me, catching those morning rays and giving the coast ahead a misty, ethereal quality. It made the journey worthwhile.
I found this pic of the road

It was a good day. I'm going to bed now to ...READ A BOOK! I am going to quit NaNoWriMo, the people I met with were ...very ... unusual. I guess I was too old for them? Or too normal? All these youngish people were sitting round a table in a coffee house when I joined them. No one spoke to me. And I didn't konw what to say. They all knew each other already. I sat and watched them and sipped a coffee. I just kept watching. One pulled out playdoh for people to play with when they saw fit, and then another pulled out a real typewriter and began clacking away. Seriously reeked of 'I'm so quirky I use this' stuff. I would have talked about books, about writing, about plot, about characters, challenges, anything, but that didn't seem to be happening. I got up and left! Fast! I hope they do well. I will not. And I'm pleased. It was not my scene!
