Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy *g*

It's Friday morning here. I've been up since six and am onto my second coffee now at seven-thirty. It's the day before the fair. The Bazaar. I have a lot of responsibility. I have twelve stalls running, things like coconut shy, hole in one, dunk the teacher, air castle, super surfer, darts, that sort of thing. We even have rides on a Harley. I'm nervous but a lot better than in years past. I must be getting more laid back in my old age *g* Maybe running the Sweets stall for a couple of fairs has given me better perspective. I've also made three cakes and I've woven twelve friendship bracelets! They look very pretty. But they sell cheaply, only about $2 and each one takes me an evening. I know how the third world people feel now ;) (yeah, right....) Tonight we will try to make gingerbread men! Last time, we had anatomically correct gingerbread men and women, they were a hoot. Jelly beans in a strategic place for the men. Dobs of icing for the women *g* and the Anglican minister bought two. 'Well,' she said to me as I pointed out tactfully that they weren't just ordinary biscuits, 'it's all God's creation!'

It's overcast here and might rain, but tomorrow's forecast looks good. So many people in the parish have been praying for fine weather. I find it hard to do that. I don't think about God controlling the weather, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask if you believe. We're getting rid of our big blue computer chair, a children's desk, two good beds, two old umbrellas, four deck chairs, an old bike, it's wonderful!!! I'm really clearing out the house. Moth, you could do this *g*

Christy has gone off to a Chemistry extension class this morning, I think she was really chuffed to be invited. It runs before school and can earn you extra credits.

So I'll be running around like a mad person today and tomorrow. Then it's OVER. I hope things are calmer at your end of the world.

Oh and here's the rain...

ooh and my bestest and oldest friend from down south just texted me, she has just passed the three year clinical psychologist course! OMG! A qualified psych! She's the one I dedicated Safe to, 'For Sue, who always believed I could do clever things'!!! Oh, I'm so proud of her. Whee!

I said I'd send Safe to her next week and... hee, she texted back that now she can have a life again, and that apparently includes encouraging me *g* I'm so lucky!

Hope the bazaar goes really well - I'll be thinking of you all over the next couple of days - I remember you talking about those gingerbread men!*g*

Hee. Maybe I could make politically correct and racially variant gingerbread men and women *snort*

Or not.

Thanks for your good wishes. It's all buzzing at school. The children pack up and go to the park at lunchtime so we get the whole site to ourselves to set up. Unfortunately, it poured for a little while first thing, so the grass will be wet. Will the children still go? I dunno... where else can a school full of children go on a wet afternoon in Seatoun! Still, I think it's clearing. ANd I can't think about anything else but what you just did for me with your page for Safe. It's blocking my thought processes OMG!!! I adore it. Revised version on its way next week. Unless I write more...

Hope the weather fines up, perhaps the children could eat their lunches standing up...???

Looking forward to the revised version - I sort of got inspired today by looking at that author's website that I mentioned in my last post and got thinking about what we could do...
a little inspiration is such a dangerous thing!!!

I think the revised version is better, with chapters.

My friend the other day, she thought it ended too suddenly. Do you think there ought to have been more stuff about what happened after it was over? I thought it was okay, I felt like I could just *gasp* bore people with golipe (epilog). But now I'm wondering... dammit LOL!

The ending didn't seem particularly abrupt to me... but it's a while since I read it...(pauses to reread last section!) - like moth1 I think there's scope for a sequel - but I think the ending is good as it stands... full of hope and joy!

Ooh thanks - again!! I think there will be a sequel, yeah. I think Keels and David, Mickey and Sarah, they will always be with me now.

Yes, but what's happening to them? - we need to know!!!!!

Would love a gingerbread person....yum.

Thank you so much, I'm back and the Bazaar was brilliant. See the next post *g*

I'll have to send a virtual gingerbread person... we never got round to making them but we will...

Sounds like the bazaar is going to be amazing! Good luck with everything, I'll be adding my prayers to the lot!!

Thanks, heaps, your prayers worked and we had an amazing time

*sends you virtual stuff for bazaar*

You'll be starting to set up stalls while I'm at the evening wedding reception. I'll spare you a thought! No doubt we'll hear all about it but will you have time to take pictures?

I've taken carloads of stuff to charity shops but Colin finds it very hard to part with things. And no, I couldn't possibly take them without permission!

Agree with Viv about Safe. The ending isn't too abrupt at all, but it does leave room for a sequel. I don't like books that wrap things up too finally - I like the characters to continue to live for me - but I'll be really keen on how you see their future.

Thanks! *g*

I didn't take pictures. Never thought of that, and I never really had a minute to spare either.

And thank you heaps for your comments on Safe, it means a lot to me.

I'm just glad you found the confidence/trust to share Safe with some of us, and find out how much we liked it!
Feb. 18th, 2007 09:33 am (UTC)
And I'm so glad you were so gentle with me. I think I'm braver about it now though, so it's a good time to think about whether I share it more widely *g*
