Ash Wednesday is coming up...

I was talking to Hannah this morning (amongst others *g*) and it was cold and dark there. Since almost all of you are in the throes of winter, I'll share another pic of Finn leaping off the wharf in the sun *g*

Hot day today. I didn't seem to achieve an awful lot in all the hours I had although a lot of the school's paint palettes are cleaner. I think it's just so nice to be doing nothing VBG! Tomorrow... it's Ash Wednesday. We're all deciding this evening how we shall spend Lent. I'm thinking about being nice to as many people as I can, and being patient with the boys when they're being total dickheads - *frowns* see, that attitude'll have to go, huh...

Ash Wednesday. I quite like it as a feast day. I like to be reminded that we come from nothing and we take nothing with us when we go. But that this life is important. And there are consequences. I do rather like that.

And we're still asked not to eat meat. I wonder what the vegetarians and vegans do *g*

Your warm, sunny weather does look lovely, it was grey and gloomy here yesterday! But the birds and plants seem to think it's springtime, I have seen significant numbers of snowdrops, daffodils and primroses popping up all over the place in the last week or so... Summer and warmer weather can't be too far away!!!

OMG imagine if you get spring soon. The seasons seem to come and go so fast now! It's really hot here this evening in the house. I just walked my neighbour home (she came over to sew something for Christy) and it was lovely and cool outside in the dark.

-Lots of my friends are giving up alcohol for Lent.
We were raised to give things up, but I decided a few years ago to do better in myself, and now I try hard to get the family to work on things they could do better, instead of going without something (not that there's anything wrong with that!). But I must admit I'd rather drink more alcohol and be nicer *g*

And the sun is glorious at the moment. Summer finally arrived just as the children went back to school.

It looks so nice and warm there!

I still have another day until Ash Wednesday. I don't think we're doing a service though, there's just not enough people.

Not enough people doesn't sound good. But here we'd have it even if there were only two or three - OMG *blush* that sounds very biblical LOL!

It used to be like that here. But not anymore. We were informed of some services in the area, and that was it! We usually do the imposition of the ashes on Sunday though, so I guess that's something.

I think anything is worth it! Just recalling that we have blessings, although sometimes floundering amidst the chaos, I think that's worth it.

It's been sunny here - but the temperatures wouldn't let anyone do that sort of dive!!

How about you spend Lent giving up rushing round after other people and learning to make time for yourself? Sounds reasonable to me.

well, it does... I am embarrassed to say I got stuck with a local school cricket tournament all day today! But I blame the school for being rampagingly disorganised and they were going to cancel the afternoon session and Asher would have been gutted so I'm glad my friend and I made the effort!

Now, I think - yeah - my time should be mine, huh. It does sound reasonable to me. I shall have to become invisible to the world for a little while!

A bit of effort for the sake of one's child/children is allowable! So does doing things with friends. But you seem to be learning - the thing is assessing whether it's something only you can do or not!!

Good point. Trouble is, I tend to think I can do anything *g*

We used to have an ad campaign here, 'Girls can do anything' - it must have rubbed off on me!

irls might well be able to do anything; that's not to say they should!!! I think I should have underlined the word 'only'!! :)
