Punching bag...

So, as I was saying to Viv, I have found the restorative powers to be found in punching something. We have this old punching bag, in perfect nick, in our garage. It's been hooked up to the wall forever, but since I decided we needed a new garage, Steve has painted and is now lining the old one ;) And the bag is hanging there, temptingly swinging in the shadows. And this morning, after that tough weekend, I decided to just give it a go. Couldn't find the gloves so I did it bare fisted and damn, it felt good to punch! To bounce and punch! I thought I'd have to think angry thoughts about people but that didn't work, even the people in the parish that irritate me, I couldn't think of hurting them, it turns out it was just good to feel powerful and determined, feelings that tend to pass me by. I'll probably be stiff later so let's enjoy the immediate benefit, that I feel like I'm ready to take on the house, and write after lunch. So. I'm ready. Bring it on.

It does feel good to just punch. I did kickboxing a couple of times, and it felt good. It just gets out the frustrations in a way nothing else can.

boxing gloves
sounds wonderful! I could do with the same just now. Ben has lots of exercise gear in the garage but no punch bag. If you do it too often you will have to get some boxing gloves, you don't want to bruise your knuckles or damage your writing hands.
(There is a growing thought in the medical world that exercise can help with depression because of the seratonin it releases to the brain, like a feel good factor. Must admit I always feel much better after being on my treadmill or even just taking the dog for a walk).
Hope your week goes well and that you find some time to write (and box). Take Care.

You know, I think it did help in that respect. And don't worry, I don't think I hit the thing hard enough to bruise my hands!

How far are you into the journey now? Any progress?
