What are you afraid of? I'm not afraid to admit I'm afraid of the dentist and everything to do with that place, I'm afraid of bananas, of being tied up, crowded malls, the edges of tall buildings or balconies, getting food on my hands (I hate that, when you're doing the dishes and there are all those crumbs and things *shudder* hmmm but maybe I hate it more than I'm afraid of it)... I'm not sure what else.

We were looking at a phobia site tonight... http://phobialist.com/
These would be some of my favourites, for the absurdity, to me. Of course, to others, they might be really serious so no offence intended, team... it's just, when you have fears, it's fun to laugh at other people's fears, to minimise the seriousness of your own. So... I did.

Geniophobia- Fear of chins
Deipnophobia- Fear of dinner conversations (that's how I met Steve really - long story!)
Kyphophobia- Fear of stooping
Proctophobia- Fear of rectums
Telephonophobia- Fear of telephones (I just like saying the word really)
Theophobia- Fear of gods or religion (plenty of those on the Net)
Xanthophobia- Fear of the color yellow

Phobophobia- Fear of phobias

and the best of all...

Zemmiphobia- Fear of the great mole rat!! You look, it's really there!

There's nobody about. Think I'll go write now. Working on Breathing Space. And I'm finally falling in love with Nick all over again, and he's flying now. OMG I love him... and he's not gay *g* - but *sigh* he's not real either...
Anyway, I haven't slept more than six hours a night for ages. It's wearing thin. I'm going to go see how I get on at least going to bed before eleven. Just have to hang out the white shirts... see you round.

I like the telephone with friends but not with strangers... for many purposes the internet is far better than the phone... but sometimes I like to hear the other person's voice, you can hide what you are feeling so effectively in print, but in conversation it's much clearer - an advantage or a disadvantage depending on the circumstances!!

As for cockroaches, have I told you about the one in Vanuatu that we accidentally sprayed with fly spray?
Mar. 9th, 2007 07:18 am (UTC)
I wanna hear about the cockcroach!
Mar. 9th, 2007 07:29 am (UTC)
Fly spray does kill cockroaches, but it does it very slowly... and their dying involves extremely frenetic flying around the room (yes the cockroaches in Vanuatu fly). This particular cockroach decided that his 'dying swan" routine would involve landing on my head and crawling through my hair...
I don't much like cockroaches, but it is completely rational!!!

My other cockroach story nearly put me off coffee!!!!

Tell that one too! I'm petrified of cockies.

One morning Ian made me a cup of coffee while I was still in bed. When I started to drink it there seemed to be a piece of thread in it...I couldn't fish it out so I kept drinking, only to realise that the piece of thread was really one of those very long antennae... I think the poor thing drowned!!

As I said, I don't much like cockroaches!!!
Mar. 9th, 2007 08:01 am (UTC)
Agh agh agh agh aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
OMG aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Mar. 9th, 2007 08:07 am (UTC)
Actually the one in my hair was worse than the one in the coffee...did you know that their feet are quite sharp and scratch you you as they move?
Mar. 9th, 2007 08:09 am (UTC)
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa OMG Viv, STOP! Argh! *shudders*

aaaaaaaaaaaaaach! OMG
Mar. 9th, 2007 08:17 am (UTC)
Well you did ask to hear my cockroach stories!...Perhaps I should change the subject... I've got a good story about what I found in my hallway...
Mar. 9th, 2007 08:20 am (UTC)
I know, I asked. I shouldn't have. But what is in your hallway? Dare I ask?
Mar. 9th, 2007 08:28 am (UTC)
Are you sure you really want to know?!!
Mar. 9th, 2007 08:30 am (UTC)
Well, I have coffee with Baileys, I am sitting in the living room with my laptop but I popped back here so... *braces self* I can take it... go ahead

Maybe having a face to attach to the voice makes the telephone easier. I quite like talking to friends but they don't always phone at convenient moments. My cousin almost always rings just as a pan is about to boil. I absolutely hate phoning strangers, even banks etc. and will put it off for ever or get Colin to do it for me - he thinks I'm mad!

Do I want to know about the Vanuatu incident? :)
Mar. 9th, 2007 05:43 pm (UTC)
I find cordless telephones minimise inconvenience from calls, I talk to people in the bath, hanging out washing, cooking tea... they don't need to know...now the only problem is when people call and I'm about to go!!

But I still don't like making business calls much!

As for the Vanuatu incident, Jenny was unwise enough to pursue this story and ended up screaming a bit!! - I suggest you look there if you would like to hear about cockroaches and other strange inhabitants in Vanuatu!
