Okay, forget about the me wanting you to post, I don't think I am gonna worry about that any more.

And on with the writing talk. Keeley (from Safe) and Nick (from Breathing Space). I'm going to make some comparisons, just for fun while the dinner is cooking, so if you're not interested, well, you know where not to click *g*
Well, Keeley, and those of you who chose to read Safe know all about him, Keeley is about five ten, he's thirty-one, he has greyish blond curly hair and he's athletic but pretty thin. Of course, Keels has a primary immunodeficiency, untreated until part way through the book, so he's not that well, never has been. Primary means he's always had it, not an acquired immune problem like you get from HIV. Keels is gay though. He has grey eyes, wide eyes that catch people's attention and rivet them! He's a nervous kind of character; he gets wound up easily, gets irritable, snaps at people and often jiggles his leg when he's sitting down. He gets migraines, partly because of his sinuses which get infected easily, partly because of his disposition and tendency towards tension. If he's tense, he likes to get out of the house and walk. He sometimes sleeps badly, and often spirals into a period of illness because of all these factors combined. He's a bit pig-headed too, and his friends have to work around him carefully to get him to co-operate sometimes! Keels is warm hearted though, he's loyal and will do anything to protect his friends. He can be quite cheeky and is very entertaining when he's well. He's a hard worker and a talented safe cracker-cum-engineer and he would have loved a caring family. That his father didn't really like him, that broke his heart when he was still a child.

Nick, on the other hand, had a different upbringing. Where Keels struggled on the farm, Nick was almost over-cared for by his family because of his asthma. His parents didn't agree on his treatment though, and they often fought over him in the middle of an attack. Consequently, Nick came to associate asthma attacks with an almost intolerable tension (his parents eventually divorced) and this led to him panicking every time he became wheezy until it has become what he does - panic. Nick is a little shorter than Keeley and a bit more solid. He gets asthma from exercise so he prefers not to get out and about too much, and battles with his weight a bit. But he's fit at the moment, working and living at the boarding school where he teaches. He has thick blond hair that tends to hang in his eyes, and his eyes are green. He is adored by most of the women on the staff at school and at the local medical centre in the small town where he works. Nick is a dorm master at the school, living amongst a bunch of priests, but he's getting keen to move out soon and meet a few more people. The new GP in town is Vanessa, a victim of violence in the big smoke, and Nick and Ness are immediately attracted to one another. Nick is a staunch campaigner for just about every environmental issue going and is considered warmly by his friends to be a bit of a geeky fanatic! He's quite shy and blushes easily, and hates the attention that he gets every time he has an asthma attack or falls ill at school. Nick lives in the central North Island, where there is thermal activity underground and deep, rugged bush, and this will play a good part in the story, if I have my way with it *g*

Nick is more gentle than Keels, more sensitive towards his friends and colleagues, as well as his students. Nick is more relaxed, less tense but also less secure and less forthright than Keels. I think Nick would be much easier to live with, but Keels would be more vibrant and challenging, and he's very artistic and creative. I don't know which one I'd choose (although of course, Keels wouldn't choose me LOL!) - you know what, I think I love them both!

I agree, it sounds like it would be quite pleasant to live with Nick, but it would make for an interesting day to day life living with Keeley!

Thanks for posting this, it was really interesting to read!
