Surprise! It's me!

It's funny when you can surprise someone. We were warming up for the funeral today, and we were positioned on one side of the cathedral, about half way down, by the grand piano. I was watching all the people file in (it was a huge funeral) and lo and behold, there was my GP standing in the doorway on the other side of the cathedral. He looked up and saw me just then, and I could see this myriad of emotions cross his face, as if I'd invaded a space where he never expected to see someone he knew outside of the bereaved family, especially someone holding a guitar! He just stared at me, and so I grinned, and he grinned, and then I waved, so he waved back. When he came over our side of the church, we had a chat. It was weird. We haven't talked outside of the surgery for years and years. Probably more than twenty-five, when we were more friendly and I lived near him and well, we were younger. He's still kind of cute.

I woke up early this morning, about half past five, so I lay there and thought about writing, and that was good. I had ideas. Lots of them. So I'm looking forward to some writing time... maybe tomorrow. Today is a write-off, and there is still soccer trials for Finn, a German interview for Christy where I'll be a dumb bug on the wall, soccer training for Asher... I wonder if I could convince Christy to learn Spanish instead...

Road trip update... still in the planning stages! But I have a route and I've pencilled in some places to stay along the way. Might book those tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting Out. Of. This. House.
