First day tremors...

Well, yeah, I made it through the first day. I was nervous. I had no idea what to teach most lessons, and had to front up to demanding senior girls with no idea of where they were at, but on the whole I got through the day. The girls were kind. I even introduced a new topic to the Ethics class. It's interesting, I think I teach that subject with an open mind but the girls still have to hear the Catholic rulings and recommendations. I think it's up to them what conclusions they come to though. Interesting...

So I'm a bit weary, I walked endlessly between the Staffroom, my new office, ground floor, and my classroom, on the first floor (I think that's second floor to the Americans!). I went back and forth, trying to establish what the hell I was doing. Luckily I had a couple of free spells to sort things out with other teachers and stuff.

And the staff are looking at me with a more friendly eye now that I'm there to stay rather than just relieving here and there. I took in my own coffee mug too, it says 'coffee' all over it *g* something eliper wouldn't be interested in!

The boys rode their bikes to school and home again and they were happy with that. We left together and they beat me home by a bit. It took me less than ten minutes to get to school. I wonder how I'll go, all day every day and still running a household. Just have to wait and see. Nice to have your support here, thanks all of you for that!

And yeah, I'll keep writing. Nothing can stop me doing that.

Really glad to hear your first day went okay, actually it sounded quite exciting, if a little daunting!

Very glad to hear that you're not neglecting the really important things like coffee and writing!

Thanks, it sure was daunting. Those girls are big and bright and I suddenly felt small and dumb!

Yeah, no problem there LOL! I'm going to do some schoolwork now then some writing before bed, if I can last the distance.

Thanks, the girls really are a very nice bunch. It's not a big school, so the classes are not that big either. Most of my classes only have twenty or so.

-Hope it goes on being OK !
Well, if it doesn't, I can just leave! All schools have their moments though. Today I ran into a friend at the supermarket who works two days a week at my last school and he said they had a very rough day today, with some awful stuff from the children, so I was particularly glad to be out of there and working somewhere much more ...sedate!

Sounds like it went well for the most part. Very tiring, but I think it will end up being rewarding. It's interesting to talk ideas and see the ideas that come of it, and the opinions formed.

Good luck keeping on!

I think it will end up being rewarding, too. The girls are starting to share their ideas so it's going to be so much fun!

The first day is always the worst, but now it's out of the way things will be better!

Well, yeah, I've made it through two days now, and I've seen all but one of my classes, so things are going okay. Thanks!
