Hey, hey, it's bedtime. I've kind of planned tomorrow but it's not too bad a day. We had a day off today, to remember the ANZACs who fought in the wars, and Asher has been learning all about Gallipoli so we Googled a bit of that this evening. My brother and nephew called in for morning tea so that was nice. The funeral (for my brother's ex-wife's dad) is tomorrow. I can't really go, but I'll be thinking of Don - he used to be a ferry captain, between the north and south islands. Our ferries are very important to us, they're the main link between the two halves of NZ.

Another friend called in at morning tea, and later more friends, and Steve took all four boys to play commando up at Hataitai School for a change. My neighbour dropped over too, to tell me the Greek widow across the road is away for a while. I wonder if she left the olives on the tree! I'll have to go have a look, it's a big olive tree. And the garden will be well fertilised, I'm sure our cat goes over there to do her business every day!

I'm trying to embrace the idea of this job I have taken on as if I was someone like Ty Pennington. We've been watching some of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition shows (guaranteed tear jerkers!!), the children adore it, and Ty's energy and enthusiasm is so infectious! I think we could do well to just take on life like that. I know it's not in everyone's personalities, to be like that, but to have such unbridled enthusiasm, love for people, joy with others, to have heart and be able to show it and share it, that's what makes someone like Ty special. It doesn't matter if he acts like a bit of an idiot sometimes, it's the wonder and joy and what appears to be real love he shows that shines through. I think I'd like to shine like that, to never lose that wonder at something amazing, to always be prepared to experience awe, to share joy, laugh out loud... but in the meantime, I'm off to bed, gotta be up again soon! Take care with your day.

RE: last paragraph that would take too much work to copy.

That would be such a wonderful way to live life. Ty is one of those people who is just infectious. I bet there's no way you could be around him without feeling happier and more loving. He really cares about people.

I should try to be like that too. Just keep happy, focus on loving others and sharing joy.

I'll try. I bet it won't last long, but I'll try.

Woot, you and me both, kid *g*

Good on you. I'm going to try. I have moments when I look at my new colleagues (about twenty or so) and think, do I want to bother befriending you guys, but really, I need to just get on with it and enjoy them!

So. Go forth and be a joy germ, Cari *g*

I think it's great to do that, even in our darkest moments there are joy, hope and wonder if we seek them out!

Hope your day at school is a good one!!

Yeah, even when faced with snotty fifteen year olds, I'm still managing to find some joy...
