Tui - native NZ bird

There is a tui at our school, just near my upstairs classroom window. He sounds glorious. Every sunny afternoon, he sits there amongst the leaves and trills and rattles and squeaks at the girls passing by just below.

This is a tui...

Ooh, go to the other birds and listen to the bellbird, that really sounds like NZ bush! Think of Keeley and Mickey tramping through the bush...

And today my friend sent a cameraman to my classroom to tape some of my girls talking about loss and grief. I thought my friend was coming, but I had to do the interviewing instead. The girls were amazing. I was so proud of them. They shared their stories of loss with me, looking me in the eye, probably not wanting to look at the camera! If it works out, my friend will put a snippet together for his site. Hmmm, maybe I'd like a new job as an interviewer... nah, don't think so! Me on camera? *snort*

As you know I miss New Zealand flora and fauna, the birds are lovely, so is the bush where they live...

Listening to the girls tell their stories must have been very moving, sad, but very special.
