Sunday waffle...

I've had some fun exploring issues for my Ethics class. Tomorrow we're looking at North Korea (well, they'll look at that while I take Finn to the fracture clinic to get a new cast on his arm). It's really interesting looking around the world in this topic, we get to study international trade, war, more on euthanasia, all under the umbrella of Year 13 Ethics. I just need to keep up the background reading! Today, for something quite off the topic, I started reading a book called Genesis, based on a television programme of the same name, of highly educated people of various backgrounds and religions discussing the Book of Genesis. I think it'll be good breakfast reading.

Another busy week starts in the morning, with a school dance and a technology evening for Christy, Finn getting a new cast, Asher getting back into soccer after a week off, confirmation preparation, all that, but it's the last week of term, so I shouldn't complain. Mind you, I do have two whole evenings of Parents' Nights, from 4-8 pm each night, on Wednesday and Thursday. I teach over 130 girls, so I might be busy, then again I teach the dorky subject and probably many parents will want to give me a miss *g* - I don't mind at all, I can write while there are gaps. I can't believe I made it through to the end of the term. Full time. And we're reasonably intact at home. It was a strange gift, this job, but I have fallen right into it. Interesting, huh. But then again, maybe I'd be like that with any job. With any thing. I get involved. I care. It's how I do things.

And now, it's time to run away from the huge pile of paperwork on the living room floor, and go to bed! Have a great Sunday, other world people...

Wow, it's been a term already?!

You really deserve the holidays - I hope you don't have to do too much school prep work, and running around with the kids in your time off. Fingers crossed you can find plenty of time to relax on the mountain :-)

Yeah, we only have ten week terms nowadays, so the breaks come thick and fast. I prefer the old system really, for planning lessons, but this is nice *g*

- Fingers crossed you can find plenty of time to relax on the mountain :-)
And to the mountain I shall run the minute school ends *g*

I think you did quite well! Now does the end of the term mean you get a little break?

Yeah, two weeks! Me and the children, of course... so not so much of a break, but at least not so much schoolwork!

That's great, two weeks off will be wonderful! Even with the kids around, I bet you'll still have a lot more free time.

End of term already! - well I suppose it would be, it's nearly David's birthday and that was always in the holidays. You've done well to have survived so well, end of term 2/start of term 3 is always a bit of a low point at school in NZ...

I think this job really uses your talents and gives you lots of fulfilment - a strange gift, but a good one. Hopefully there will be times for writing too...

Yeah, I don't like it much, I'd rather keep teaching at this time of the year. We used to just have a mid-term break in the old three term days.

Thanks *g* People who hear I have the job seem to just say, 'hey, great, you'd be good at that'!! I do hope for time to write, but it's getting harder and harder to keep it up. Still, there are holidays in five days - whee!

The school holidays have begun in this area of Germany as well.6 weeks ! This is the big break,I think you get around Christmas time.....(your summer break) The continental holidays are broken up all over the countries,so that not all areas are free at the same time, and therefore more space on the motorways, not to mention hotels and camping sites !

Enjoy your break.

Oh, summer holidays *sigh* I remember them! It is really, really cold here tonight, about three degrees, and although we don't get snow, the cold southerly wind is truly awful! I'm going to fill a hot water bottle!

Glad you've made it, intact! Glad you've found something so fulfilling, too. But I really hope you find time to write as well. Maybe when you get the fortnightly day off! Meanwhile, writing in the gaps at a parents' evening sounds like a good way to go!

I do, too. After a break, I feel like maybe I don't really know how to write at all! But I know it's still in me, if only I had some contemplative time.

Once you have settled into the job you will have a lot of your lessons partly prepared for next year, and you will have your days off. Then you'll be feeling more confident and better able to use the time you've set aside for writing. Of course you know how! You just haven't had a chance to be organised about it yet! I have confidence in you!
