Parents' night tonight, I talked to parents and daughters from four-twenty until quarter to eight this evening, with a fifteen minute break to grab dinner, and it really was quite fun. My subject's assessments are all internal so there isn't the pressure of external exams, and it makes it easier to talk to parents about things like how the girls are doing as PEOPLE, not so much of the exam mark machine mentality that some parents get for some subjects! I had fun seeing how girls link to one or other parent, how some attitudes must develop, all that kind of thing.

And OMG this afternoon, after lunch, I had to take a Year 9 Health class at the last minute, and OMG I had to teach all about the menstrual cycle and all the associated issues! Aaaaaaaaaaaah! Me so prudish. I got through it though, and the girls even asked if I can be their health teacher all the time! No thanks! Yikes!

This evening, one girl was clearly sniffing and crying as she trailed her parents from teacher to teacher. She is a lovely Year 12 girl, and when she got to me, she looked so sad - her mother tried to pat her on the knee and she pushed her hand away. I said, 'has it been all too much for you tonight?' and the poor girl burst into tears, so I just had to give her a hug and she wept into my shoulder for a moment. God knows what her parents thought! Too bad. She needed it. I hope she gets a good sleep tonight. I think I will. All my work was locked in the block when I came to leave, so I just drove home LOL! No homework for me tonight. And we have to do parents' night all over again tomorrow night, for another four hours! OMG! Roll on the weekend, and holidays. HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two glorious weeks! Admittedly it's mid winter but I don't give a hoot!

So I'm taking my weary self to bed now. Have a good day/evening/everything *hugs the world*

Hooray for holidays!!

I bet the girl was just stressed. It's hard for a young girl to let her parents into her world, and to hear all of the different people talking about her. I'm sure some rest did her well though.

lol! It could have been worse!!

I'm glad parents' evening part 1 went okay, I hope that part 2 will go just as well!

And holidays soon - yay!

Nice to be able to discuss personal development instead of exam results! Glad it went well!
