C-c-c-catch up

I'm really having trouble getting here these days, school work and running the family really takes all of my attention, OMG it's crazy. But still, it's busy and I guess that's a good thing. Right now there is a World Youth Day meeting at my dining room table - Christy is at that one! So I'll be reading my flist tonight to see what you are all up to. I am guessing Viv and Ian are away, and Liz in Oz was off and away too, I think, and there aren't that many of you these days to keep up with, huh, so I'll get busy reading tonight, see how you all are.

I've been really busy today, we had sport for all the children in the most crazy wild northerlies, where gusts at Kilbirnie Park would send us all flying a few steps at a time! The soccer ball would travel well, too! It's still really gusty here this evening, thrashing against the house and whipping round the garden. Christy has two friends to stay for the weekend, to study for their mock exams next week. They're having a bit of fun too, but I don't mind. One of them is off to Chilton very soon, as she has won a Music scholarship there (it's a private girls' school). Christy will miss her.

As for me, this afternoon I've really thoroughly cleaned both bathrooms, cleared the kitchen, made cookies and popcorn for the meeting, folded the laundry, done the powerpoint for Mass tomorrow, cuddled the rabbit, made drinks for the people at the meeting, and cooked a Malaysian curry for dinner. I think I really want to have a rest this evening LOL! I've mastered the basics of Gothic architecture now, and I am fascinated by the progression of styles. I wish I'd known more about it when I went to Germany, because I could have really identified heaps of specific features. Still, I have my photos to look back on, so that's a relief.

So life is interesting in some ways and mundane in others. I have had some fun in my class this week - we did "This is Your Life, Jesus" yesterday in Year 10. One girl played Jesus and the other girls had to sit behind the swinging whiteboard and 'be' characters from Jesus' life, after a little bible research. One girl had to be Mary Magdalene and the girls said, 'Miss, was she really a prostitute?' I said, 'Well, she did apparently live a sinful life.' Then one girl, with a dawning realisation on her face, leaned towards me and said in amazement, 'Did Jesus hire her?' !!! We all laughed for ages! And I've been covering racism with my Ethics class and it revealed one girl had really strong racist views - I was quite surprised, then I found out the following day by chance that she is new to the school this year, so that might be a factor. Catholic girls are usually pretty schooled in what's fair and right by Year 12 or 13. The whole class had turned to look at her several times in the course of the discussion, yelling her name in exasperation! She admitted she was mostly just echoing her dad.

Writing? Haven't done a thing. Wonder where that will all end up. *shrug* not important. I had to go to see my sons' teachers for 3-way interviews the other night, and that was hard enough this week. I kept calm *g* We also had a long music practice on Thursday night, but that was fun! So. I'll get everyone fed and watered and then get back here to read your LJs! Meeting almost over here, better go see them all out!
