This afternoon I have mastered how to decorate a wedding candle with a heart and wax and words and little rings and flowers and ribbons - it was hard to get the tissue paper to stick to the candle but I worked it out eventually by trial and error, a little Googling and a trip to Pak'n'Save...

, and I watched the Shawshank Redemption, the best movie ever. I have made a Tort Shokoladnyi - Chocolate cake in Russian - and Beef Stroganoff - brother in law (who is, incidentally, not Russian) is coming for dinner. I have rested, crafted, cried and baked. Not a bad afternoon.

And that is that.

Thanks. Friends in the parish have a candle company, and I was supposed to use that, but I really wanted to try it myself. One of my friends did Asher's groups of confirmation candles and after a million tries she got it right. SO I was determined to have a go. Took me a few goes though! OMG!

We were supposed to be going to the wedding. It's in Edinburgh next week. But Steve never wanted to go, so that made it hard. So we didn't go. I took the parents of the groom (Finn's godparents) to the airport and I felt so tearful - I had to drive away fast.

It would have been lovely if you and Steve could have come over to the UK for the wedding, really cool... but it is such a very long way to come... and a lot of money!!!

Yeah, I guess the money was the worst thing, four adults and one child, we'd have to pay. And it's just a wedding, I guess. But I so would have liked to have come, then seen you guys somehow. And just seen the UK. And Hannah lives in Edinburgh. *sigh* never mind. I can save some of my own money now I have a full time job, huh!
